HMEA's 11th Annual Independence 5K Walk, Run, Roll & Stroll in the Park is an all inclusive family fun day event. It's hosted by Fox25 News anchor Gene Lavanchy, and former New England Patriot Steve Nelson. This event attracts more than 2500 people who help support the children and adults from ages 1 to 95 with disabilities such as, autism, Down syndrome, and cerebral palsy supported by HMEA.
The event includes a competitive 5K road race, which is registered and licensed, PLUS a robust 5K walk through the beautifully landscaped Franklin Industrial Park. Additionally, a 3 tiered Kids Fun Run will be held. The Independence 5K also boasts FREE entertainment, food, "Kids Corner" with lots of free activities and prizes; a Kids FREE raffle, a very affordable "DREAM" raffle featuring some really fantastic prizes, and a special "Salute" to our Veterans. The Franklin Police and Fire Departments showcase special vehicle displays, and the US Army National Guard presents interesting military equipment and gear. And, there is so much more...
