MAX CURE FOUNDATION - The Daniel Family Fundraising Page

Dear Family and Friends;

"Give Max the strength to battle this lethal disease, and we will make a difference!" - These were the words spoken by our dear friends, Annemarie and David Plotkin, when they discovered their four year old son, Max, was diagnosed with stage four cancer.  To make matters worse, the diagnosis was a form of cancer never before seen by some of the leading oncologist's in the world.  The ultimate strategy was a two-year protocol of chemotherapy called New York 2, at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center (“MSKCC”); a protocol commonly used in treating patients with Leukemia.

Today, over three years since the diagnosis, Max has been Cancer free for over a year; however, he still goes to the hospital monthly for ongoing analysis.   The Plotkins, with the support of their family, friends and community have committed their lives to keeping their word and MAKING A DIFFERENCE!

Formed in December 2008, The Max Cure Foundation is a registered 501 (c)(3) nonprofit corporation focused on advancing a cure for pediatric cancer and finding effective treatments for children with cancer through; (i) raising funds for innovative research to improve treatments and quality of life during and post treatment, (ii) building public awareness of the fight to cure pediatric cancer and (iii) inspiring hope and courage in children with cancer, their families and their communities.

August 21st, 2010 marks the 2nd Annual Roar For A Cure Family Fun Day in East Hampton.  Proceeds will go to the following; (i) 70% of net proceeds will go to Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center towards a state of the art research lab for pediatric cancer therapies, (ii) 15% of net will go to Katy's Courage Fund and (iii) 15% of net will go to Dr. Oren Becher's Pediatric Brain Tumor Research Fund at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center.

The Foundation’s initial primary goal is to raise $5 million for the creation of a first of its kind Cell Therapy Laboratory at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center (MSKCC).  To date, the Max Cure Foundation has raised approximately $770,000 of which approximately $550,000 has been contributed to the Max Cure Fund at MSKCC, formed by the Plotkin family in June 2007, for the underwriting of the research lab for pediatric cancer therapies and $109,000 has been contributed to other pediatric cancer causes.
