Medicforce provides immediate care, training, and sustainable community health care. Our organization empowers communities to address common health issues through education.
In February 2010 our team of volunteers refurbished the community health post at Laguna village. Our long term plan is to provide health education and training to all 40 Mayan community Health care workers in the Toledo district, creating a sustainable healthcare network.
We are returning in July to finish training the community health worker in Laguna Village, and to install solar electricity to the Laguna clinic. Our team of six volunteers consits of four NOC employees and two pediatric nurses.
Our goals are;
- Install a solar panel and lighting to the refurbished clinic.
- Train Andreas Che, the Laguna village community health worker.
- Train community health workers in San Antonio, Toledo district in basic childbirth techniques and pediatric care.
Main fund-raising targets;
- Birthing manikin for childbirth training - $1500
- Solar panel, battery and hardware - $1000
- Expedition logistics - $2000
- Supplies for Laguna clinic - $800
