12/19/2012:
Thank you to everyone who has donated this year. Unfortunately, we had to defer our MCM 2011 race to 2012 due to various reasons that we won't bore you with. However, the donations that have been made so far (and hopefully more to come) still go to support The Coalition for Pulmonary Fibrosis. We plan to run this October, so let's keep the fundraising alive.
Something that would be helpful is for everyone to contact their congressperson and senators and ask them to support the Pulmonary Fibrosis Research Enhancement Act, which simply asks for the creation of a national registry of patients with PF so that we have a better understanding of how widespread it is in order to enhance willingness to put more attention on the need for a cure. More than half a million people suffer from PF and 40,000 a year die from it.
Please go to the CPF page and join so that you can receive the newsletter and increase your own understanding of the seriousness of this illness. It's free! Here's the link:

Thank you again for supporting this cause and HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

Megan and Amy are back in the land o' the slugs, visiting family and starting our training for the Marine Corps Marathon! The weather here is sooooo much better for running than the east coast swamps that are New York City and DC in the summer, so we're grateful for a few days of cool running. THANK YOU SO MUCH to those of you who have already donated. Please pass on the message; we need to find a cure for pulmonary fibrosis, and like everything else, it costs lots of money. PF is not a disease that gets any federal financial support, so we have to raise money through private donations.
Our dad left us a legacy of love for others and for our world. It is in the spirit of this legacy that we "press on" in fighting for a cure for PF, even though we lost him last summer.
Thank you, thank you, thank you! And pass this website on to everyone you know......it's a GREAT cause and your donation is tax-deductible.

Can you believe it's that time of year again? Yep, it's time to start thinking about the Marine Corps Marathon; training, fund raising, and honoring those we've lost and those who are still suffering from pulmonary fibrosis.
Unfortunately, no legislation was passed to allocate funds for research for PF, but that doesn't mean we quit trying; we just work harder. So we will be sending out emails periodically to remind you to donate just a little (yay for tax deductions!). Even $5 helps.
For the Rider Kids it means that we (meaning at least one of us, haha) will keep running the MCM to raise money for CPF so that they can continue to lobby on Capitol Hill for much needed research dollars. In this way we honor our dad and hopefully help those who still live with this disease daily.
It also means that there are only 4 MONTHS until official training begins. Yikes! It sure would be nice if this east coast weather would warm up for those of us training out here, but Mother Nature is in charge of that, not us. Soon enough, we'll be whining about how hot and muggy it is!!
Thank you ahead of time for your support for this worthy cause. Remember, all you have to do is give a few dollars.....we have to run 26.2 miles!
Finally, thanks to our dad and mom, who brought up 4 kids while moving around every few years (occasionally every year). You inspire us.
