Jon Schwartz's Boston Marathon Challenge
As many of you know, I am undertaking one of the biggest challengs of my life, while helping support a variety of charities that assist children dealing with much more significant challenges than running a marathon.
This April 16th I will be running in my first Boston Marathon while raising money for the Boston Bruins foundation. My training has been going well, with huge thanks to the many veteran marathoners I run with in the Hopkinton Running Club. Let's just cross our fingers the mild winter continues, as I have learned that running in snow is surprisingly much harder than running on dry pavement...who knew? I am confident that when Marathon day arrives, I will be ready, although the thought of running 26.2 miles...in a row...is still a bit intimidating.
The Boston Bruins Foundation is a 501(C)(3) non-profit foundation that assists charitable organizations that demonstrate a commitment to enhancing the quality of life for children throughout New England. The Foundation provides grants to organizations that meet the standards of its mission, concentrating on the following four areas where it is best able to enrich the community: Athletics, Academics, Health & Community Outreach. My personal goal is to raise $4,500, so I greatly appreciate anything you are able to contraibute! Donating through this website is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to support my fundraising efforts. If you prefer to mail a donation, you can send checks made out to Boston Bruins Foundation to my house: 9 Appaloosa Circle Hopkinton, MA 01748
Thank you all for your support of my run and the Bruins Foundation. Literally, I could not accomplish my goals without all of your support and I am so thankful to have some a great group of family & friends. Hopefully many of you will be able to come out on marathon day to support me and the 27,000 other runners and have a good time. I promise that no matter how tired & sore I am by the time I get to Boylston Street, I will find the energy to enjoy a cold Harpoon with anyone who is there!
Thank you all in advance for your support!
Cheers,
Jon
