Mackenzie’s is an outstanding example of a true no kill sanctuary. Dogs that are unable to find a home will live their lives out here at Mackenzie’s. Our mission is to aid abused, neglected, and abandoned dogs in finding forever homes. It’s truly a site to see as the dogs play in their large play yards, swim in the pond as well as the pool, and interact with all our volunteers.

Monday October 13, 2008 @ Mackenzie's Animal Sanctuary (5-8PM)

 

Grand Rapids Griffins players, coaches and front office staff will participate by walking rescued dogs from Mackenzie's Animal Sanctuary for pledges collected by the staff and members of the Grand Rapids Griffins Booster Club.

 

We also encourage and invite any and all animal lovers to attend with or without a dog to walk.

 

The event will consist of a variety of activities including: live music, BBQ, hay rides, arts and crafts, games, contests, microchipping, demonstrations, and a marketplace featuring a variety of pet-friendly vendors.

Our goal is to raise $15,000.00 to support the efforts of Mackenzie's Animal Sanctuary, the Mid-West’s largest no-kill sanctuary dedicated to providing a “home along the way” for dogs in need. Mackenzie’s efforts include not only finding loving homes for rescued dogs, but also maintaining the highest standards of care for the animals during their stay, including veterinary care. The funds raised from the Walk-a-thon will help support facility expansions for a new on-site Veterinary Clinic that will not only serve Mackenzie’s resident dogs, but also serve local pet owners by offering affordable spay/neuter services to the public, all for the betterment of our local animal community.
