For the third year in a row, I’m taking part in the Miles for SMILES event on March 25, 2012 to raise money for SOUTHCOAST MENTORING INITIATIVE FOR LEARNING EDUCATION AND SERVICE INC.  This grueling event consists of a 3.6 mile walk/run-a-thon at UMass Dartmouth. For the past two years with your support and generosity, I have finished the race and taken home the award (trophy) for most raised by an individual.  Plus, Team Mechanics has also taken the award (another trophy) for most raised by a team.

Because I am discretely competitive, I have decided to defend my title and, once again, accept the challenge from another bank's CEO.  So please help me retain my title for most raised by an individual this year because, ultimately, the SMILES program will win!

SMILES currently provides a mentor for more than 400 youth, grades 1 - 12, in the SouthCoast region of Massachusetts.  In addition, 100% of the proceeds goes to this nonprofit agency, which is focused on reducing the dropout rate in the SouthCoast region of Massachusetts through mentoring programs.
