This spring I will participate in a Habitat for Humanity Global Village trip to El Salvador. My teammates and I will work alongside El Salvadoran families in Usulutan, helping to build simple, decent, affordable homes.
Our host, Habitat for Humanity El Salvador, has been working to reduce poverty housing throughout the country since 1992. The need for decent, affordable housing is critical, as an already extreme situation was made worse by frequent natural disasters including hurricanes and earthquakes. Over 360,000 Salvadoran families live in substandard conditions; this number represents more than half the population of the country and increases by 35,000 yearly due to natural population growth.
The cost of my trip is $1,280. This includes lodging, food, and a donation to Habitat El Salvador for building supplies. I need to raise this amount by December 31, 2011 and am asking for your support.
Would you consider a gift of $100, $75, $50, or some other amount?
All donations are tax-deductible and a receipt will be provided by Habitat for Humanity International.
