OUR STORY:

My mom Charlotte was born on Oct. 18, 1949, and she passed away from complications from Lupus on March 15, 2007. She was 57 years old.  Mom lived a life full of passion, laughter, and love.  She had a beautiful Soprano voice and loved to sing.  She supported my career in the arts and never lost her sense of humor, even during her 20-year battle with this debilitating disease.  Although she has been passed for 2 and a half years, I think about her daily and continue to miss her laughter, music, encouragement, and mother's love.  A woman of faith, she was and continues to be an inspiration in my life.

On Sunday, Oct. 18, I will be honoring my mom's 60th birthday by running the Denver Half Marathon as a fundraiser for the Lupus Foundation of America. Although this is my eighth race this year, it will be my first half-marathon.  Although Lupus is not a well-known disease, it is one that has lasting effects on those who suffer from it and their loved ones.  For us, Mom was one of three women in my immediate family who either suffered or who is suffering from Lupus.  I feel that by asking my family, friends, and loved-ones to make a donation to the Lupus foundation, we all can make a difference in the research behind learning more about and finding a cure for Lupus.

Please help me say "Happy Birthday, Mom!" and consider making a donation to the Lupus Foundation.

Thanks,

Josh

RACE RESULTS:

Thank you to everyone who has made a donation in Mom's name to the Lupas Foundation of America.  I had set a personal goal of finishing my first half-marathon in under 2 hours, which is slightly above 9 minutes per mile.  I completed the race in the top 19% of all entries, coming in at 1:53:31.  During the race, I was truly inspired by the kindness and generosity of those who have donated.  Thank you again.
