5th Annual SSG Joseph Curreri Memorial Benefit

Please join us on Saturday, May 19, for our 5th Annual fundraiser to benefit the Special Operations Warrior Foundation. The fundraiser will once again be held at The Hill, 416 3rd Ave (btw 29th & 30th) from 9 – 12 p.m. We are requesting a donation of $20 that will go directly to the charity, and there will be free appetizers, $3 domestic beers, $4 imported draft beers, and $5 well drinks.

We are dedicating the night once again to the memory of Green Beret Staff Sergeant Joseph Curreri, who tragically died in 2007 while deployed in the Philippines in the fight against global terrorism. Although Joe did not have any children, he was a passionate supporter of the Special Operations Warrior Foundation.

This will be the 5th annual tribute to Joe. We have raised over $35,000 over the past four years and are setting our sights high with a goal of $10,000 this year.

We will also be raffling off some great prizes Saturday night. Tickets are 1 for $5 or 3 for $10. If you are unable to attend but are interested in purchasing some tickets, please contact Josh at joshskaplan@gmail.com.

Created in 1980, Special Operations Warrior Foundation is devoted to providing a college education to every child who has lost a parent serving in the Army, Navy, Air Force and Marine Corps during an operational or training mission under the U.S. Special Operations Command. This includes over 70,000 military special operations and support personnel assigned to units throughout the United States and around the world.

The Warrior Foundation is currently committed to providing scholarship grants to more than 900 children of the approximately 800 Special Operations personnel who have given their lives for their country since 1980, including those who died fighting our nation's war against terrorism as part of "Operation Enduring Freedom" in Afghanistan and the Philippines as well as "Operation Iraqi Freedom."

Currently, 190 children of fallen special operations warriors have graduated from college.

Since 2005, the Special Operations Warrior Foundation has provided immediate $3,000 cash grants to personnel seriously wounded in the line of duty. Once notified of a special operations soldier, airman, sailor or Marine hospitalized with a severe injury, the SOWF immediately sends funds to the service member (or his/her designated recipient) so family members can immediately travel to be at their loved one's bedside. Since this program began in 2005, the Special Operations Warrior Foundation has provided over $1.2 million to wounded special operations personnel.
