Hey you guys! My church is getting involved with the Hunger Hike on September 20th, so I'm raising money for it. Unfortunately, I can't walk in it because I'll be helping my school decorate the hallways for homecoming week but I'm still trying to raise at least $200. You can donate on this page and its completely safe =) And feel free to forward this around to anyone who might like to donate to help relieve hunger around Lafayette and other countries. Donations will go to Food Finders Food Banks and St. Tom's Haiti Ministry.

Some facts:

-The number of hungry people in the world has reached a record 1 billion. Hunger now affects one in six people.

-In the U.S., 36 million people live in households that experience hunger or the risk of hunger, including 13 million children.

-Approximately 60% of Lafayette school children are eligible for the free and reduced lunch program (over 80% in some schools).

-In the first quarter of 2009, Food Finders Food Bank saw a 44% increase in the amount of food distributed.

-The St. John's/LUM food pantry serves over 2,000 people each month
