BLC Celebration of Life Fundraising Page
Thanksgiving is a special time for us - time to be with friends, family, loved ones and celebrate life.
For members of the Boston Living Center, this is not always the case. That's why we're putting on "Celebration of Life" - a Thanksgiving Dinner for men and women living with HIV/AIDS, and their loved ones. This year's Celebration will be held on Tuesday, November 23, at the Hynes Convention Center, for 600 guests. In addition to a full-course Thanksgiving dinner, the guests are treated to live entertainment, Liz Walker serves as the MC, Mayor Menino addresses the audience, and more. All to help folks forget their worries, if at least for a night.
The event also serves as our largest fundraiser of the year. Please consider a donation, large or small, to support the Boston Living Center and our Celebration of Life Thanksgiving Dinner.
$10 provides a personal hygiene item package for our homeless or lower income members.
Did you know 40% of BLC members are homeless or precariously housed and 60% live at or below the poverty line?
$20 provides one art or jewelry class to a BLC member.
Art classes provide a healing space for our members to creatively express themselves.
$45 provides three hours of peer support to a BLC member.
Peer support is one of the many ways BLC members find the necessary support to lead healthier, stronger lives.
$100 provides a computer class for 8 BLC members.
BLC has a computer lab with high speed internet service for members.
$250 provides an educational workshop for 10 members.
Topics such as Medication Adherence, HIV and Immigration, and Talking to Our Children about HIV/AIDS address our members' varied concerns.
$500 provides one weekly lunch and dinner for a member for an entire year.
Last year the BLC served more then 40,000 meals to more than 1,500 HIV+ members.
