Thanks again for those of you who have stepped up once again to donate and to those of you who have donated for the first time! I really appreciate it, and so will the family!!

For those of you who don't know me, I have already managed one gift giving page that earned $3,600 for a family who needed the funds to help adopt a little boy. It was such a great and rewarding experience that I had to do it again. Please help me help this loving family who adopts special needs children from China.

I just graduated from Mansfield University and majored in elementary education. I love children and think they are the most wonderful gift any family could ever receive. The reason I have decided to pick this website is because I was adopted as an infant by my two wonderful and loving parents. There isn't a day that goes by that I don't want to thank my parents for just being my parents. I know I was a gift for them which made them very happy and now I want to give back in the same way. Adoption is a very special thing, but without the funds, can be almost impossible to achieve for want to be parents. I have set my fundraising target at $3,500 because this is what the final costs are for an adoption for one family. With the help from you, hopefully we can help another family achieve their dreams like my parents did with myself and my brother.

Below I have attached the story of a wonderful couple named Daniel and Elizabeth. Their story shows what big hearts and giving people they really are.

“For years my husband and I knew we would use adoption as the tool to start, and grow our family. Our desire to adopt children is a deep bond that Dan and I share,” says Elizabeth when asked about her and her husband’s desire to adopt. Daniel is a self-employed musician and Elizabeth is a home healthcare physical therapist. Together, they are composing a symphony of love and hope for special needs children.

The couple already has one child, Simon, aged 4, who is a Down Syndrome child adopted from China eighteen months ago. Both Elizabeth and her husband Dan find joy everyday in the growing accomplishments of Simon, a testament of what a loving home can mean to a special-needs child. Elizabeth writes, “Simon’s records show that he was found in a forest in China, alone, unable to walk, crawl or stand. After 18 months in the home of his forever parents, he can now “race through our house, jumping, walking, and running.”

Now they are trying to adopt another Down Syndrome child, a little girl, aged 6, also from China. Her name is Dang Si.  Dang Si is currently six years old and is in need of specialized medical attention for her Down Syndrome. But with each day that passes, she is losing chances at education, therapy, medical attention, and the love of a forever family.

The desire to adopt is a bond Elizabeth and Dan share. She has a younger brother who is adopted and when Dan’s younger brother was born with Down Syndrome, his parents responded by adopting three other siblings who also have Down Syndrome.  And Elizabeth also believes God has called her to love and nurture special needs children.

In 2002, Elizabeth traveled professionally to China where she trained Chinese orphanage nannies about how to use the basics of physical therapy for children with developmental delays and significant special needs. She says she could barely come home, knowing she was leaving so many needy children behind.  Ultimately, Dan and Elizabeth have come to believe that God has led them to adopt children who others see as “unadoptable,” children who would have no future unless someone fight's for them.

Today, despite their decision to live a relatively simple life, the couple struggles financially to come up with the funding to bring Dang Si home.  A grant from Gift of Adoption will provide the last bit of funding this family needs to complete Dang Si’s adoption.
