Family and Friends,
Thank you, thank you, and thank you for making the ING Marathon such a big success in a BIG ETERNAL WAY! We were able to interact with Samaritan's Purse, their people on the ground, video crew, and fellow SP teams and we were totally blessed!
Samaritans Purse actually came and did some video interviews of us to make a promotional video for these types of events. It was a lot of fun and just reminded us once again WHY we were doing this.
We attended the SP team dinner the night before the race...a fantastic Carbo-load, complete with lemon meringue pie! It was awesome to see the other teams from all over, hear their stories, and learn more about Samaritans Purse's Clean Water Efforts.
The forecast for the day of the race was RAIN, RAIN, and HEAVY RAIN. Thankfully the weather only dealt us a few sprinkles and some cold air. Kathryn and Paula ran the half marathon in record times...the course was a bit hillier than they had anticipated, so they were glad to finish strong.
I (Julia) ran the marathon and posted my best time ever and qualified for the Boston Marathon! It was a great day, and we were so thrilled and delighted to EXHAUST ourselves for a great cause and GREAT GOD!!!
Thank you once again, and although our race is over, Samaritans Purse has not stopped their efforts to bring clean water and to help people around the world. In fact, the video crew flew right from Atlanta to Haiti! If you would like to donate to the clean water project, or to Haiti specifically, you can still give through our webpage, or to Samaritans Purse.
GOD BLESS!
