The Police Unity Tour is a 300 mile bicycle ride from Northern New Jersey into Washington DC for Police Week in May of every year. The 300 mile ride spans over 4 days, with the middle two days consisting of a 100 miles each day.
The Police Unity Tour started in 1997, with just 18 riders. Today, eleven years later, the Tour has over 1000 riders. The event is to raise awareness for our fellow officers who have died in the line of duty, serving their community. Our motto is "We ride for those who died". The money we raise helps build the National Law Enforcement Museum in Washington DC. In late 2005, the Tour has pledged to raise 5 million dollars to sponsor the "Hall of Remembrance". Last year, the Tour raised 1.25 million dollars. For more information, our website is

As you may remember, on September 6, 2008, Sgt Paul Starzyk of the Martinez Police Department, was shot and killed while responding to a shots fired call at a local hair salon. He is survived by his wife and three children.
On October 7, 2008, Richmond Police K-9 Officer, Brad Moody died while responding to a call for assistance by another officer who was handling a felony assault. He is survived by his wife and two children.
To date, ten officers from California have died in the line of duty, 114 officers have died nationwide. Unfortunately, there will be more.
