Most people don't realize that Dogs were created by man thousands of years ago by breeding wolves for the charateristics we were looking for, whether it be for herding cattle, guarding a flock of sheep, pulling a sled or just being a happy lap dog.   They were bred from the wolf to be a companion to man, it's in their genes.  

Chaining a dog out alone is quite possibly the worst form of abuse to them.  They are pack animals and for thousands of years have been bred to be part of the human pack, so when chained out alone or even next to another dog, they don't understand why their human pack has abandoned them. 

There have been many instances of a dog being severly beaten, but still staying with the owner and not running off because the need to be part of a pack is stronger than the will to run away from the pain.   We want to educate people on how truly horrible it is for a dog, both mentally and physically to live on a chain.
