"The Journey of My Life"
Dear Friends & Family:
On March 29th, I start "The Journey of My Life" - The Appalachian Trail. I will be walking from Springer Mountain, Georgia to Mount Katahdin, Maine. This Journey of 2,169 miles will take approximately six months to complete.
The reason why I am taking this Journey, is in memory of my wife, Jean. A life-long dream Jean & I had was to take this Journey together. Sadly, Jean passed away on February 6, 2004 and we were not able to take this Journey.
Jean was cared for by Old Colony Hospice at home for a short time, which was greatly appreciated by her family. In honor of her memory, I am raising money for Old Colony Hospice by taking this Journey to give back to a wonderful organization, who provided compassionate care to my wife and our family. Special thanks go to Reverend Gordon who comforted my family in our time of need. So....how can you help me on this Journey? You can make a secure donation via this website and help me reach my goal of raising $25,000. It is also the most efficient way to make a contribution to my fundraising efforts. You can 'share' my Journey by logging onto
www.trailjournals.com/justinkamp - My daughter, Catherine will be receiving and posting photos and my journal on this site. Many thanks for your support -- and don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too! Happy Trails - Justin
On Saturday, March 18th, we held a very successful fundraising event at Pratt Farm here in Middleboro. We had a great turn-out of approximately 175 people who showed up to wish me well on my trip. We were very fortunate to have good weather and an amazing amount of generosity. Thanks to everyone who showed up and donated, we were able to raise over $10,000 through raffles, T-Shirt sales and donations. All of this money is going directly to Old Colony Hospice. I want to thank each and everyone of you who showed up to lend your support. I could not make this journey without each of you. Thanks again....
