ING Miami Marathon
Thank you for visiting my personal fundraising page. This winter I want to achieve my ultimate goal of running my first ever marathon! At the same time, I would also like to fundraise money for something I am very passionate about - HIV/AIDS research.
Currently there are more than 1 million people living with HIV in the United States. 1 in 5 of those people are unaware of their infection. Despite many new discoveries and treatments, it remains one of the top 10 leading causes of death worldwide and has killed more than 25 million people. I hope that one day a cure will be found to end the death and suffering all over the world from this devastating disease. Your donations will bring us one step closer to that goal!
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to make a contribution to my fundraising efforts. Many thanks for your support -- and don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too!
UPDATE: I finished my first marathon! My official time: 4 hours, 22 minutes, 29 seconds. People weren't kidding when they said the second half of the race is the worst. Around mile 20 my leg muscles completely tightened up, making it extremely difficult to run. But with the support of my donors and the race volunteers handing me everything from water, to gatorade, to bananas, to pineapple, to energy gels, to beer (yes beer, go figure), I was able to finish! I will post images from the race as soon they are on the ING Miami Marathon website. Thanks again for all of your support!
