Japan Emergency Response (IOCC)
Thank you for visiting my Moustache May fundraising page! I am wearing a RIDICULOUS STACHE for 30 days to help raise funds for IOCC, an important ministry currently providing assistance in Japan.
International Orthodox Christian Charities (IOCC) is providing humanitarian assistance such as medicines, food and other essential items to communities in the earthquake and tsunami-damaged Pacific coastal districts of Japan in the prefectures of Iwate, Miyagi, Fukushima and Ibaraki. The assistance is being distributed by the Orthodox Church in Japan in cooperation with regional authorities. All of the aid to be distributed is expected to be obtained locally in Japan.
The Orthodox Church of Japan was founded in 1861 and currently has 2 bishops, about 20 priests and 67 communities (churches and missions) throughout the country, and fewer than 10,000 people. Of these, six Orthodox faithful were lost in the disasters, four are still missing, and one church was totally destroyed by the tsunami and fire. Your donation, however, does not merely go to relief for the Orthodox, but it helps to provide immediate relief and long-term support for ANYONE in need through the provision of emergency aid, recovery assistance and other support.
For on the ground updates about the situation from Christians in Japan, check this page. To keep up with my moustache antics, here I am on Moustache May.
Donating through this website is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to support my fundraising efforts.
Many thanks for your support -- and don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too!
