Karen Johnson's Fundraising Page
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. My beautiful son, Joey, passed away in 2008 due to complications of epilepsy, a disorder he acquired at age 12. We never knew he could die from epilepsy, and the past year we have learned more than we ever wanted to know about a syndrome called SUDEP-Sudden Unexplained Death by Epilepsy. Simply put, SUDEP causes either the heart or breathing to suddenly stop in a person with epilepsy, even without the occurrence of a seizure. This was the case with my son.
Though Joey never allowed epilepsy to dampen his enthusiasm for life, it ended up taking his life. His loss has been devastating to his family and friends. Now we want to support the Epilepsy Foundation, so that others can avoid the tragedy and loss that we have experienced. We will be sharing our family's story of loss at the upcoming walk. Please keep us in your prayers as it will be a difficult day.
We would be grateful for anything you can give to our cause. We will be participating in the Epilepsy Walk on November 8, but will continue our fundraising efforts till we reach our goal. This website is simple to use and totally secure, and your donation is tax-deductible. Thank you so much for your generous support.
