It's hard to believe there was a time when I didn't know anything about German Shepherd Rescue of New England.  In 1997, I kept hearing about Yankee Golden Retriever Rescue and Greyhound Rescue and learned what good things they were doing for those breeds.  I kept looking for a GSD Rescue to join and finally saw a small notice about GSRNE, which had just been started on 1996.  I offered to foster a dog and started on one of the most rewarding, challenging and unexpected experiences of my life.  As I became more involved, I learned that rescuing these dogs is 50% about them and 50% about helping the people who can no longer keep them or who have lost a beloved German Shepherd and need to find another companion.  I get to know sensitive and loving dogs who are about to be destroyed for lack of a home; and I see how much money it takes for vet work, food, supplies, foster home support, etc., to protect these dogs until the right home can be found.  Any donation you can make to help with this effort will truly make a difference!
