Larchmont Avenue Church 2012
This February, for LAC’s annual mission trip to Nicaragua, our group of 21 volunteers will be travelling to Siuna; a community located in one of the poorest regions of the country. Although we will be working with members of the community on a variety of projects, our focus will be to improve facilities at the local hospital, which is the only medical facility serving the 60,000 people of Siuna and surrounding areas.
The 60 bed facility operates most days without running water. At present, garden hoses are used to deliver the most basic of sanitary needs. Lack of proper washing facilities hinder recovery and permit the spread of disease; particularly affecting the elderly and young children. We want to change this! LAC is fundraising to support the construction of a shower block that will ensure patients can bathe in safety and dignity and we hope YOU will join us in making this happen. Whilst our volunteers will be working hard at the hospital building the showers, your contribution can help us reach our goal of raising at least half of the $8000 the shower block will cost. By making a donation to this worthwhile cause, together we can transform the level of healthcare offered by Siuna Hospital and dramatically improve the lives of the patients treated there.
Muchas Gracias!
