I was diagnosed with breast cancer 14 years ago, had a mastectomy followed by chemotherapy.
On March 27, 2009, I was diagnosed with a new breast cancer and so the battle began all over again. Multiple tests, MRI's, biopsies, two surgeries, recuperations, and more chemotherapy!
I know I'm in good hands working with an excellent team under the care of Dr. Peter Kaufman. I have a few more treatments to go, follow up visits, and more decisions to be made after chemo, but life does go on and as much as cancer is a part of my life, I can't let it take over my life, and who I am. So, in celebration of my last chemo treatment, I have decided to Take-A-Hike and join my freinds with a climb up Mt. Major.
The hike is truly an honor and a way for me to say Thank You to the Norris Cotton Cancer Center, and Dr. Kaufman. It's my way of paying it forward, and giving back to a team of oncologists so that they can develop breast cancer research programs that will save more lives, and get us one step closer to a cure.
This hike is personal, and more important to me, my family, my friends, my team mates, and perhaps you, a co-worker, an aunt, a mother, a daughter, a sister.
Please join me in the fight against breast cancer. If you can hike (the trails are easy), join my team, start a team, and meet me at the top! If you can donate, a little goes a long way. If you can raise money, know that it will help a lot of breast cancer patients in your community who are patients at the Norris Cotton Cancer Center and Dartmouth Medical Center. Feel good that you're making a difference.
Thank you so much for your contribution and support.
