Dear Friends and Family,
I am so excited to tell you that I am training for The Music City 1/2 Marathon in Nashville on April 25th, 2009. I will be walking......no, I haven't forgotten about the spinal fusion or the metastatic Breast Cancer....so it may take 4 hours!!, but who cares.
I will be training with a group called Gilda's Gang, created in 2006 by Gail Addlestone M.D., in her magical way.She was going through chemo and radiation, and still wanted to get fit and give back to Gilda's Club. Gail was a beloved friend, wife, daughter, mother and pediatrician who was taken, not without a fight, from us all ...way too soon.
You all know my story: I was diagnosed with breast cancer right around my 40th birthday, in 2000. I found the lump myself 7 months after a normal mammogram. I have to keep estrogen from my cancer, and I do that through medication and diet., as well as surgery early on, to remove my ovaries. I am fighting hard for myself and my family. The cancer had already spread to my bones when I was diagnosed, so I get an I.V. bone strengtener on a regular basis to keep it from spreading. I am in remission.
Nashville has been fortunate to have a Gilda's Club for 10 years. They just celebrated a birthday. Many cities have a Gilda's Club. All are FREE OF CHARGE to anyone who has been touched by cancer. A place to go for the emotional and social support at a time when folks are the most afraid and feel so alone. Gilda's Club is there.

All donations are 100% tax deductible.I know we all know someone who has had cancer, or is getting treatment now. And, sadly, most of us have lost folks we love to this horrible disease.
