Karen Vega's Fundraising Page
Hi everyone and thanks for visiting my page! I will be running the New York City Marathon for the first time on November 7th and I’m honored to be running for Team Boomer to help fight Cystic Fibrosis.
As many of you already know I was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis (CF) as an infant. CF is an inherited chronic disease that affects the lungs and digestive system of about 30,000 children and adults in the United States. A defective gene causes the body to produce unusually thick, sticky mucus that clogs the lungs and leads to life-threatening lung infections. The median age of survival for a person with CF is currently 37 years but I plan on blowing that number out of the water!
Having CF has inspired me to live my life to the fullest, to challenge myself, and to encourage others to do the same. Running has improved my lungs and health drastically this past year and I am blessed each day that I am able to do so.
I am asking you all to join, or continue to join my family and I in the fight for my life against Cystic Fibrosis. I appreciate you taking the time to view my site and consider making a donation. No matter if it is $5 or $500, your generosity will not go unnoticed. No contribution is too small.
By donating to the Boomer Esiason Foundation you will be aiding in furthering the research towards finding a cure for Cystic Fibrosis. My hope through running in this marathon is to inspire and to give hope, to those who suffer from Cystic Fibrosis, to show them that through hardwork, perserverance, (medications & chest PT), anything is possible, even running 26.2 miles with lungs full of 65 roses!
Donating through this website is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to support my fundraising efforts.
Many thanks for your support -- and don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too!
