East Coast Greenway Alliance Executive Director to Cycle the Greenway

From September 25th to September 29th, ECGA Executive Director Karen Votava will cycle 210 miles from Trenton, NJ to Baltimore, MD in an effort to raise funds for the Close the Gaps Campaign.

All funds raised will go towards closing gaps in the East Coast Greenway in NJ, PA, DE, and MD. Although this section is the most substantially-completed section of the ECG, there are still many gaps that need to be closed, for example:

New Jersey: The route needs to be brought off-road in downtown Trenton from the end of the D&R Canal Towpath to the Calhoun Street Bridge.

Pennsylvania: The Delaware Canal State Park Trail from Morrisville to Bristol has several gaps that need to be closed.

Delaware: Developing a Christina River crossing on the route from Wilmington to Newcastle.

Maryland: The gap from the Northern Central Railroad Trail to the Jones Falls Trail needs to be closed.

While she is riding, Karen and her support staff will also evaluate the quality of the trail to ensure that trail users are enjoying a safe and positive experience.
