August 20 Update:
WOW! Thank you all for the tremendous support. I am now just over 7 weeks away and my training is going even better than I could have imagined. I won't be the fastest gal out there, but I am absolutely confident that I will finish and when I do, I know I will be thinking of all those people that have helped me get to where I am today. I am doing things now that I never thought would be possible.
To my ICAN group members: I am doing this for all of you. You provide me with support and inspiration each month and I want all of you to find strength in each other. We can be the example. Not only can you live with this disease, you can also THRIVE with this disease. And together, that's just what we're doing.
Thank you for the super generous donations and please continue to pass this site along. Below is my original message.
All my best - Kari
June 1, 2010: Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. You know why you're here, but keep reading to find out what makes this year different!
For the last three years, my brother Josh has proudly ran the Chicago marathon as part of the CFCF team. And I've had so much fun cheering him along the route! With my help we've raised $8,405 for the Caring For Carcinoid Foundation over that three year period.
This year marks a special year for us.
1) I'm turning 30! Holy cow! I'm so excited!
2) It will be Josh's 10th marathon (ironically enough, being ran on the date 10/10/10)
3) We hope to reach a total donation of over $10,000 (making this year's goal $1,595)
Last but not least – I’M going to be the one running it this year for CFCF! That’s right – you heard me! It will be my very first marathon and, of course, Josh will be next to me the whole way through.
When I was diagnosed nearly 4 years ago, we weren't even sure that I'd reach 30. And while cheering on Josh, I thought to myself that I would run one to celebrate my 5 year diagnosis anniversary. But Josh convinced me - why put off another year, what you can do right now. And I guess that's what having cancer is all about. Embracing every moment and making the most of it.

But don’t forget to donate here.
Help us reach our ultimate goal of $10,000 before 10/10/10!
Donating through this website is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to support my fundraising efforts. All donations are being matched this year by the Raymond and Beverly Sackler Foundation, so your donation will go twice as far!
Many thanks for your support -- and don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too!
