Please join my Heroes Team for the American Red Cross!  I am raising $4,000 for local Red Cross emergency services.  You can be a Hero for a family by supporting the work of the Red Cross.

Perhaps you've given recently for the Haiti or Chile earthquake and for that, I say "Thank You".  The needs there are great and ongoing.  However, our needs continue here in the Midland Empire and your support is desperately needed to help local families - your friends and neighbors in the Midland Empire.  100% of the monies raised through our Heroes Campaign stays here - in our area. 

Last year, we responded to 104 fires in our 13 county jurisdiction.  An average fire costs the Red Cross a little over $1400 for a family of 4 with no insurance.  In addition, the majority of our families have an annual income of less than $20,000.  Can you imagine a family income of $20,000 per year AND losing everything you own?

This past  year, we also sent over 150 emergency military communications to our servicemen and women serving overseas.  These were critical messages from their families here at home and it is the only way a soldier can receive emergency leave - he must receive a message from the American Red Cross.

Our "Cause for Alarm" program continues to be a huge success and we had 22 rural fire departments participate.  For that program as well as the smoke alarm distribution here in St. Joseph, we distributed and installed 1,600 new smoke alarms and almost 2,000 9 volt batteries to low-income and elderly households.
