I am a supporter of a non-profit organization called Sahaya International in the US which partners with an organization called READ in rural south India. Together Sahaya and READ have been setting up schools in a village called Andimadam (near Chennai) giving many children an opportunity to get an education and fulfill some of their own dreams. Unfortunately too often these children have a single parent or even just a single grandparent taking care of them and who cannot entirely support the child's education. Voluntary sponsors help ensure that families can afford to pay for the schooling expenses for their children.
Now there is an opportunity to fund the education expenses for a girl named Ramya-pictured here. Ramya is the first Sahaya kid to have enrolled in Veterinary college. She has had very good grades so far, loves sports and is very motivated. Below is some more information on Ramya (obtained from Sahaya/READ) :

Her Story:
Ramya’s father was working as a teacher in a private school and died when she was studying in 4th grade; since then the family is being supported by a small pension. This amount is not enough to support her higher education at Veterinary college.

Ramya loves sports and has participated in state and national level basketball and volleyball events.

Her  Interests: Reading books, playing sports.
