Thanks for visiting my fundraising page for the 6th Annual MCVP and Keene State College Walk a Mile in Her Shoes!
I was amazed by the support I received last year! I'm looking to raise $500 again this year to help support Monadnock Center for Violence Prevention (MCVP).
Each year MCVP provides free and confidential support services to almost 1,000 women, men and children in the Monadnock Region. Our prevention education programs reach more than 6,000 students, grades 2-12 and an additional 2,000 community members. Your support for MCVP and Walk a Mile in Her Shoes helps ensure our support services remain free and that we can continue to educate students to help break the cycle of violence.
As the Education & Community Outreach Coordinator @ MCVP I am always hearing stories from educators and other service providers about the impact our programs have on their students and clients. I always begin each class by writing MCVP's 24-hour hotline number on the board and explaining the services MCVP provides. One 6th grade student wrote our number down while I was teaching. A teacher saw him and spoke to him after class, at which point he disclosed violence was occurring at home.
With statistics showing that 1 in 4 girls and 1 in 6 boys will be sexually assaulted/abused before their 18th birthday, we ALL have a responsibility in showing support for ending sexual violence in our communities.
Thanks so much for your support! And please forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too! And if you'll be in Keene, NH on Saturday, April 21st, register and come out to Keene State College to walk with the more than 400 college students and community members we expect that morning!
