Thank you for visiting my fundraising page!
I try to live as a good patron of my city, and for me, that includes ensuring that all students have the opportunity to obtain a college education. My two years teaching at the Allgeheny County Jail and my six years of teaching in Baltimore City speak to my commitment to public education; I believe that a strong education can empower people to break out of the crippling cycles of poverty that trap students in low-paying jobs and limit the potential of my fair city.
If you know me, then you know this much is true: I love Pittsburgh, I love to run and I love it when kids learn. I've a few half-marathons under my belt, and this year, I want to mark turning 30 by logging a full marathon. You heard me: 26.2 miles. No more 13.1. Twenty six point two. This means that I'll be running distances of 17, 18, 19 and 20 miles in Pittsburgh sleet this winter, and in Pittsburgh humidity this spring. Up Pittsburgh hills.
Your generous donation makes it possible for a local--and deserving--high school student to attend a state university. To you, it's a donation, but to this student, it's a life changing opportunity.
