Hello friend! My name is Katelin Becker, I am a 17-year-old resident of Falls Township in Bucks County, Pennsylvania. Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. I am running this fundraiser with the hope that those who are fortunate enough to have a home are willing to give to those not as fortunate. You have the power to bring about change in the world we live. Homelessness is a problem that many people underestimate. However, in reality there are homeless people all across America, and across the entire world. It's time to say enough is enough.
The Red Cross homeless shelter is the only emergency and year-round shelter in Bucks County, Pennsylvania. It is an 75-bed sanctuary for the homeless in Bristol Township, and usually approximately half of it's residents are children under the age of 18.
The shelter currently employs 26 people, full-time and part-time. However, that is just the basic essentials needed to keep the shelter operating effectively. The Director of Homeless Shelter Services, William Burns, also expressed that the shelter is seeking funding to provide summer camp for children and Life Skills classes that provide adults with the tools they need to be successful. He stated, "Last year we could count on foundation funding for these - this year - we’re not sure."
The care given to the people at the homeless shelter is dependent upon the donations of kind and generous people, just like you. The shelter is for those who have lost their homes or those whose homes are not safe. The funds that the shelter receives are used to give these people food, drink, clothing, shelter, transportation, and a renewed sense of optimism.
