Youth Helping the Homeless
I believe in hope and I believe in love.
My name is Katelin Becker, I live in Falls Township and I had recently saw an article in the Courier Times that informed me of the homeless shelter's loss of a state grant.
It really bothered me, I already hear each day on the news of violence and hatred. Now, the only homeless shelter in our county has lost money, and may have to turn down the homeless as a result.
I was so discouraged by this.
I wondered what the world has come to.
I didn't let the discouragement take over me for long, as I then turned it into hope. I thought, I may be just a teenager, I may be just a 15 year old girl, but if I don't like what is happening in the world, I need to do something about it. So I did.
I called the Lower Bucks Red Cross Chapter, and left a message on John Majane's voicemail. John Majane is the Director of Major Gifts at the Chapter and he has been so kind and supportive in my endeavor of hope.
Firstgiving is an internet partner of the Red Cross Lower Bucks County Chapter. John Majane had given me the idea and I then created this webpage. Here you can make a secure, credit card donation.
The shelter is also in need of paper and plastic household products, non-perishable food items, and personal care items. If you perfer to make a donation with a check, please make the check out to the American Red Cross Homeless Shelter. My phone number, which can always be reached is 215-478-3885. I can pick up the items or checks for you and then deliver them to the chapter.
My goal is to raise at least $500 so I really need your help. No matter how small, any donation is greatly appreciated.
