United Planet Yushu Relief
Yushu is one of the most remote places on earth. Our United Planet Tibet volunteers know this first hand, after flying into the city of Xining, China, they then spend 20 hours on a bus climbing high up to the Tibetan Plateau to stay with our Tibet Coordinator, Caiya Dolma and her family. Volunteers have been working at the local school in the area for the past four years.
Yushu's remote location makes it a fascinating place for volunteers and visitors, but it also means that in the wake of last weeks earthquake, aid supplies are facing difficulties reaching the people who need it most. Our Coordinator Caiya and her family have asked for our assistance in raising funds to help the communities most affected by the quake.
Caiya and her family have informed us that the local schools and orphanages in the area have had to move to tented accommodation, and classes are also now being held in tents as the earthquake has leveled most of the buildings in the area. The community's elders have also had to move to tents since their houses are no longer structurally sound for them to live in.
Any donation, no matter how small, would be greatly appreciated. Funds for food, medical supplies and rebuilding materials are all desperately needed, and will go directly to the communities in Yushu that need it most.
As an international non-profit 501(c)3 organization, your donation with to United Planet is 100% tax-deductible for US residents.
