The Central Park Conservancy is a private, not-for-profit organization that manages Central Park under a contract with the New York City Department of Parks & Recreation. The Conservancy provides more than 85 percent of Central Park’s annual $27 million operating budget and is responsible for all basic care of the Park, including the maintenance of 58 miles of pedestrian pathways, 4.5 miles of bridle path, and 6.5 miles of Park drives on 843 acres of free and open space—an urban runner’s paradise!
