Can you believe summer is nearly gone, school is back in session and Devon is going to be 3 in just 4 months! Time flies when you are chasing kids. Devon is now walking, jumping, dancing, climbing and as expected as little boy, he tends to dismantle any/everything within his reach. Devon is busy answering questions about his world such as, do plates fly? Yes but only for short distances then they break when they hit the floor!

We are learning more and more the importance of advocacy for services related to the care of those affected by Down syndrome. Many services in our area are being cut or just don't exist. Right now our biggest concern for Devon is transitioning into preschool and learning to talk. He knows dozens of signs (yet often chooses not to use them), yet has minimal speech. This is common with Down syndrome, yet frustrating for the family and Devon as he tries to communicate his needs. The fight to help our loved ones with Down syndrome is tiring but worthwhile-those before us have done so much but there is still a long way to go.

Down syndrome Association of Central California changed the name of this annual fundraising event from Buddy Walk (a nationally recognized event name) to Step Up for Down Syndrome in order to keep all money raised purely local.

Early registration is just $8-, you can register for the Step Up For Down Syndrome and join us on this fun, 1 mile walk in Fresno on 10/2 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Click on Join This Team above and receive an event T-shirt! There will be food vendors or you can bring a picnic lunch-come join us!  There will be entertainment, bounce houses, and a LOT of fun to be had by all!  If you can't join us but would still like to help out, you can donate by clicking on Sponsor Me Now above or below. Donating through this website is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to support our fundraising efforts.
