6/28/10 Tucker is on is his way back to Florida with Ken & Darline.
Thank you again to all who cared about these boys.
HELP GET DUKE BACK TO FLORIDA!
Duke & Tucker left Florida in March 2010 and headed to Texas. They were both re-homed but Duke ended up in a New Mexico shelter on 5/28/10. A kind soul named Bill who rescues Bassets & Beagles in New Mexico happened to be at this high kill shelter on 5/29/10 and was the Angel Duke needed!
What's even more amazing to find Duke in a shelter is that he was ALIVE! Had it not been for Duke's unusual 117 lb basset/bloodhound frame and widely spread exposure of him by Chris at All Ears Basset Sanctuary in NM to cause question as to if this was Suncoast's Duke that had been recently reported to be at the bridge. Duke is not in the best medical condition and will need some help but he has a lot of Guardian Angels looking after him.
As for Tucker, his whereabouts are unknown but we are all still working on finding him.
Suncoast Basset Rescue is making arrangements to get Duke back to Florida. Please consider helping with his medical costs and other costs that Bill will incur while Duke is in his care in NM and getting him well enough to travel back to the Sunshine State.
This is truly a BLESSING for Duke. Thank you for caring about Duke & Tucker and all the other lost souls. Please check back here for an update on the pair.
6/04/10 UPDATE: Duke had sugery on his ear for the heomtoma and is on antibiotics. Blood tests look good. Weight loss program in progress (113 lbs). We don't have any good leads on Tuckers wehereabouts yet.
6/16/10 Sad news today. Duke is ATB. He had a few seizures and was taken to the vet clinic where he was diagnosed with Spondylosis and was kept overnite and died peacefully in his sleep. Duke was very special to everyone that met him. Rest In Peace big guy, you were loved.
6/24/10 Tucker has been found and will be on his way back to Florida in a matter of days. Thank you to Ken & Darline who have donated their time and RV to pick him up and bring him home. THANK YOU TO BILL for not giving up on finding Tucker. Duke lives on in Tucker for sure.
THANK YOU TO ALL FOR YOUR GRACIOUS DONATIONS.
