Hayley and my story begins three years ago when I was diagnosed with a hole in my heart. I came home from my wonderful cardiologist's office (Dr. Jim Thompson) and told Daddy that I had a hole in my heart that could only be filled with a puppy! After hearing everything that the doctor had said, Daddy promised that I could have a puppy after my operation and once I had healed. We agreed that I could start looking after my birthday at the end of the school year. I started watching the MCHS website, looking for a pup. We visited a couple of times, but I didn't see any dogs that I liked. Finally I saw Hayley online! Mom, my brother and I went to visit and took Hayley for a walk. It was love at first sight! She was just 5 months old, which meant she was born right around the time of my surgery. I was afraid that I wouldn't get her, but the animal shelter thought we were the best place for her. I've taught her lots of tricks - she's very smart. She gets along well with everyone, including Pookie the cat, and she thinks she's the mother of the two feral kittens we have - Mrs. Sweetie and Dutch. She even lets Dutch play and "attack" her. To honor her birthday, I saved up my money to donate to Paws in the Park. Please help me to help other animals by making a donation.
