Thank you for visiting my 2010 Walk for Farm Animals fundraising page!
Here is a little bit about what Farm Sanctuary does, and why they are so close to my heart!
Farm Sanctuary is the nation's leading farm animal protection organization. Since incorporating in 1986, Farm Sanctuary has worked to expose and stop cruel practices of the "food animal" industry through research and investigations, legal and institutional reforms, public awareness projects, youth education, and direct rescue and refuge efforts. Farm Sanctuary shelters in Watkins Glen, New York, and Orland, Calif., provide lifelong care for hundreds of rescued animals, who have become ambassadors for farm animals everywhere by educating visitors about the realities of factory farming.
Farm Sanctuary is truly a place of refuge for animals that have suffered terribly at the hands of humans, from practices and abuses that have now become industry standards in the world of factory farming. The good news is that more and more people are learning about these cruel practices, and creating change through their choices as consumers.
I love Farm Sanctuary for working so hard to help animals that nowadays are treated like nothing more than machines. Billions of animals in this country raised for food are so strictly confined that they can not even turn around, or spread their wings out, and never even see sunlight until they are being sent to slaughter. What miserable lives... I have been lucky enough to meet and work with some of these incredible animals, and it breaks my heart to think of their suffering.
I am thrilled to help raise money for Farm Sanctuary, and to help spread the message of compassion. It is a way for me to give back to the pigs, and other animals at Farm Sanctuary, who have enriched my life with their spirit, joy, friendship, bravery, beauty and love.
Thanks for your support!!!
