Hi! I'm Katie Carter, and I have been participating with Special Olympics North Carolina since the age of 8. I am now 22 years old. I will represent NC in joining Special Olympics Team USA for the upcoming World Winter Games in PyeongChang, South Korea. I will be competing in figure skating and joining two other athletes from NC who will be competiting in snowboarding and speed skating.
I have been skating since the age of 5. I also participate in swimming, soccer, basketball, speed skating, equestrian, cycling, and skiing. Outside of swimming and skating all year round, I enjoy playing with horses, attending school at CPCC, and socializing or attending dances.
My favorite memory with Special Olympics NC was 12 years ago when I went to Alaska for the World Winter Games and won a gold medal in figure skating for Special Olympics Team USA. I was thrilled to hear that everyone compared me to Tara Lipinski. I was also able to participate last year at the US National Figure Skating Championships with all of the big name skaters and met Tara Lipinski for the first time.
I am hoping to once again honor Special Olympics Team USA and NC by bringing home a gold medal in the 2013 World Winter Games in South Korea. I need your help in reaching my fundrasing goal of $2,013.00. In keeping to the 2013 theme for the upcoming competition, please donate in increments of $2.13, $20.13, $200.13, or $2,013.00. All donations are welcome and will help me reach my fundraising goal.
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page! Many thanks for your support -- and don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too! You are truly helping me fulfill a dream come true with allowing me to go to South Korea for the first time and compete in my favorite sport!
