My sister was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis about seven years ago.  Ulcerative Colitis, which is very closely related to Crohn's Disease, is chronic inflammation of the large intestine where ulcers in the inner lining of the colon cause tremendous (and tremendously painful) health problems.  Her symptoms have been on-and-off over the last seven years, with this last year being her worst yet.  Kelly has made multiple trips to the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota over the last year after her doctors in Kansas City decided she was an extreme case.  She has always kept her chin up with an undying certainty that remission is just around the corner.  I give my sister a lot of flack for being a prissy little girly-girl, but when it comes to dealing with her Colitis, she is one tough gal!
