Run Keith Run - Chicago Marathon Oct 12th 2008
Dear Family and Friends
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page and for taking the time to support such an important cause. Any donation you make is greatly appreciated.
Some of you know that my gorgeous twin sister Rona ran the London Marathon in April in a wonderful time and in doing so raised a lot of money and awareness for Autism in the UK. (Rona's wee boy was diagnosed with Autism in 07)
I'd like to do my bit too for charity, Rona, her husband Al and their lovely kids Tommy and Amy so I've decided to run my first (and last?) marathon in Chicago on October 12th. My goal for the Chicago Marathon is to finish in any way I can and raise money for Autism Research.
To accomplish this, I am running to support the Organization for Autism Research (OAR), an Arlington-based national non-profit charity that provides parents and educators with guidance on the best treatments for those living with autism, with an emphasis on education and social skills.
The statistics for those diagnosed with autism spectrum disorders are staggering and every twenty minutes, another child is diagnosed. Sadly, there are no available measures to prevent autism, as the cause remains unknown; however, early intervention and therapies, many of which are funded by OAR, are crucial for affected children and their families.
Please support research for autism by sponsoring me as I run 26.2 miles on October 12.
Your support will not only get me out the front door on those early weekend long runs but importantly it will give a lot of kids and their parents a valuable support system.
Cheers and a very big Thank You.
Keith
