St. Bernard Project has been working tirelessly to help solve the enduring housing needs in the New Orleans area. Currently there are 130 clients on our waiting list and we receive 10+ calls each week from residents needing assistance; a caller’s average age is 61. The families on our waiting list owned their homes before Katrina, but they have been unable to afford to move home - often due to circumstances like contractor fraud or insufficient insurance payouts. SBP serves low- to moderate-income residents of the Greater New Orleans Area with a special focus on families with small children, the elderly, disabled persons, returned war veterans, and under- and uninsured persons.
