This year, the HSSM has a special wish list. These items are quite expensive but desperately needed. Lets help grant some wishes! This year, the proceeds of Bids for Barks will not only help with general operating costs, but provide some of the wish list items.
*Dog Washing Station and Dish Washing Station* are on the top of the list. At this time-there is one tub doing double duty!!
*A Company Vehicle for Animal Transport*
*A Commerical Clothes Dryer*
*A New Fence for the Perimeter for Socializing*
Operating costs for HSSM are approximately $21,000 each month. This amount includes shelter/building expenses, compensation, food, basic medical needs, office supplies, postage and various other ordinary expenses. HSSM relies on the generous help of volunteers and receives various donations of supplies and services. HSSM operates in a very responsible and frugal manner by containing costs and generating income. It is very hard some months to make ends meet. Monthly donation amounts often do not cover basic costs and we operate at a loss.
The Humane Society of Southwestern Michigan receives no local, state, or federal money to operate. We are not affiliated with nor do we receive funding from national organizations. Donations, grants, memorials, and fund raising efforts are our sole sources of income.
The main funding need for HSSM is operating costs. Monetary donations allow us to pay the bills and to purchase items most needed to be operational. Running a shelter also includes maintaining the building, making repairs, and upgrading the equipment. The need for repairs and building improvements is currently an immediate and crucial need.
The animals rely on us! We must rely on YOU!
