I am very excited to be running in the NYC Half Marathon March 18, 2012 to support autism research. I am running for autism because it is something that affects my family's life on a daily basis, as well as that of many others. At the age of 6, my youngest sister was diagnosed with high-functioning autism. We have experienced firsthand the many challenges that those with austism must face on a daily basis and I hope that by raising awareness and support, together, we can make a difference.
This year, 1 out of every 110 kids will be diagnosed with an autism spectrum disorder. By running for autism research, I hope to show those who are affected by autism that they do not stand alone and that we have the power to make a difference.
I will be running in this race for someone whom I love and care for very much. My youngest sister has surpassed countless adversities and exceeded all expectations with determination. Her perseverance, humor, confidence, loyalty and tenacity have and continue to inspire those who know her day in and day out.
I am so blessed to have someone in my life with such ambition, love and one of the biggest and warmest hearts I know . She means the world to me, and will forever be an inspiration to me in all that I do and I am so very proud of my little sister.
My goal is to raise $5,000 to fund autism research and I greatly appreciate any contributions you choose to make. Every dollar counts and all donations will be kept anonymous.
Thank you so much for all of your love and support, I hope that together we can make a difference!!
