Hey Chatham County Neighbors,

I've had the privilege to work with the Chatham County Outreach Alliance (CORA Food Pantry) for the past few years.  

As of October 1, CORA expanded our mission to meet the increased need for emergency food support in our county.  The Food Pantry will now be providing up to 6 visits in a 12 month time period, instead of the previous 4 per year.  This change will go a long way in providing much needed food assistance for the hungry in Chatham Co.   Also, this past summer CORA,  along with 8 partner agencies,  launched a very successful SNACK (Summer Nutritional Assistance for Chatham Kids ) program which provided 10 nutritious meals per week for over 730 kids during the 10 week summer break when school breakfasts and lunches were not available.  Plans are already underway to expand SNACK for summer 2011 to 1000 kids with 14 meals /week.  This program is critical to serving the nutritional needs of Chatham County children. 

 

We need your help.  Our largest fundraiser of the year is the CORA Hunger Walk, held on Sunday, November 7th.  Would you consider partnering with CORA to provide nutritional assistance to needy residence?   To give you an idea of costs, this past summer, you could sponsor one child for the full ten weeks of the SNACK program for approximately $125.  Compare that to your monthly cable or cell phone bill.
