4 Paws Service Dog For Tyler Kidder
Thank you for visiting my fundraiser page.
Tyler came into our lives when he was 3 1/2 years old. We adopted Tyler and his brother, Jeremiah in 2007. We have been blessed by these two special boys.
Tyler started kindergarten like any other 5 year old. Tyler struggled in school, we held him back to repeat kindergarten and had a wonderful teacher the second year of Kindergarten. Tyler was struggling again in school, but the teacher came to us and asked if Tyler was Fetal Alcohol. We said we didn't know, but then we had some genetic testing done to see if there was anything "wrong" with Tyler. We since found out that he has a duplication of the Xq28 Chromosome (which we just found out no-one really knows anything about - besides that having a duplication is better then having missing pieces) and Tyler was also diagnosed as having Organic Encephalopathy secondary to prenatal teratogen exposure. (FASD-Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder)
Tyler also struggles with some sensory issues as well. This all causes some behaviorial issues/melt downs/central processing disorder.
Tyler still struggles in school, but this year for the first time, we have a para-professional for Tyler to help him in the third grade. Tyler's assistant is wonderful and has helped tremendously.
We have researched and found that a service dog may be of help to Tyler. We pray that not only will the Service dog be of help to us to calm the anger/behavior outburst, but that the dog will also be Tyler's best friend.
We are partnering with 4 Paws for Ability who takes the "dis" out of Disabilites. We are asked to raise $13000 for the Service Dog. It takes $22000 to train a dog for a person. After we raise the money for the SD Dog, we will then be placed in a class that we will attend for 2 weeks to learn how to use the dog for Tyler.
If you would like to donate money to 4 Paws to help Tyler receive his dog, we would greatly appreciate it. You may donate right through this website.
Donating through this website is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to support my fundraising efforts.
Many thanks for your support -- and don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too!
Thanks for your Support,
Tyler and Jeremiah
