Tim Davis Special Tactics Memorial March
Twelve highly motivated men in two man teams will relay march over 800 miles, across five states, carrying 50 lb. packs and a memorial plaque with Staff Sgt Tim Davis's name engraved. U.S. Air Force (USAF) Staff Sgt Tim Davis a USAF Combat Controller was killed in action in Afghanistan on Feburary 20, 2009. This relay is in honor of him and all Special Tactics (ST) teammates who lost their lives in the line of duty, to include Tech Sgt Will Jefferson, and Tech Sgt Scott Duffman. Will Jefferson was killed on March 22, 2008, and Scott Duffman on Feburary 18, 2007. They were selfless heroes who consumate the quiet professional.
We will begin our 824 mile journey, October 6, 2009, where all ST team members begin their careers, Medina Annex, Lackland Air Force Base (San Antonio), TX. Our mission will be complete approximately eight to nine days later at Hurlburt Field (Fort Walton Beach), Florida, where we will meet our brothers at the annual Combat Control (CCT) reunion, October 17, 2009. Tim's name will be added to the Combat Control Memorial at the Hurlburt Field Air Park. My two man team will walk a total of 165 miles of the 824 total miles.
The entire team hopes to raise awareness and support for the Special Operations Warrior Foundation (SOWF). Their official website is http://www.specialops.org/. I encourage all to learn more about SOWF. They provide full scholarship grants, educational and family counseling to the surviving children of special operations members who die in operational or training missions. They additionally provide immediate financial assistance to severely wounded special operations members and their families. SOWF currently has 119 students in colleges and universities across the country.
Tim is survived by TJ (Timmy Junior), his 1 1/2 year old son; Will is survived by his daughters Tyler 9 and Natalie 1; Scott is survived by his daughter Sophia 2 1/2. It is our honor to help raise support for TJ, Tyler, Natalie, Sophia and all the other children of our fallen warriors. Through SOWF, these children are guaranteed to receive a college education and the promise of a bright future.
Monetary donations can be made on this site or may be given to anyone on our team. If you would like to support in any other way please contact me at (210) 241-8141. I will post more information as it comes available.
