Thank you for visiting SOGA's National Games fundraising page!
The Special Olympics USA National Games were created to provide an additional opportunity to celebrate the achievements of Special Olympics athletes in an Olympic environment and to promote stronger awareness and acceptance of people with intellectual disabilities throughout the United States.
From July 17-24, 2010, 18 athletes from Georgia will proudly represent Special Olympics Georgia at the 2010 USA National Games in Lincoln, Nebraska. The Georgia Delegation will join with over 3,000 athletes from 50 states to fulfill a lifelong dream of competing in a national arena. These athletes have trained and competed for years in order to achieve the opportunity to travel to the National Games. For many of these athletes, the National Games will be their first time outside of Georgia. These Games will provide the athletes a chance to experience world-class competition, sportsmanship, and peer interaction.
In staying true to our commitment of making our programs available to all children and adults with intellectual disabilities, athletes are not charged a fee to participate in the National Games. As such, we rely on the generosity and financial contributions from caring individuals like you.
The approximate cost for each athlete to attend National Games is $1,000. This includes the expense of travel, competition uniforms, general wear clothing, equipment, training camps, meals, and hotel stay. To date we have raised only $2,000, putting us well behind our total goal. That said, we desperately need your help!
Because Special Olympics Georgia is not a United Way agency and does not receive any state or national funding, it is vital to our program that we have donors like you who believe in our mission.
Please click on the "sponsor me now" button to make your tax deductible donation to Special Olympics Georgia to benefit the athletes competiting in the 2010 National Games. Your donation will be directly used to cover the expenses incurred by the athletes attending the Games in Lincoln, Nebraska.
Donating through this website is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to support the fundraising effort.
Remember, any amount helps!!!
Many thanks in advance for your much needed financial support!
