10th Anniversary at Falmouth for Team Genesis
Each year, my daughter Aidan, Team Genesis co-founder, tells me this should be my last Falmouth. It is true, I have been a bit wobbly and blurry after a few Falmouths. However, I must say that running with Team Genesis and putting on our green and white singlet is indeed an honor. We all run to reduce the stigma of mental illness and to raise a few dollars for the Genesis Club's programs of wellness. These programs are reducing the high mortality rate and the social isolation often common with those with a mental illness. We are hoping to raise the modest goal of $50,000 in our 10th Anniversary run. This will support 20 individual Genesis members in their recovery for one year. This year we are thrilled to have 45 brave runners with us including Genesis members, staff, board and friends. We will also have a team from Fountain House in NYC and Fellowship Health Resources in RI join us.
So any donation amount is very much appreciated and I thank you for your kindness to those in this great global recovery model called Clubhouses.
My plan entering my 12th Falmouth run is to reach my fundraising goal and to follow the words from the Berkshire poet, Josh Billings. "To Win Is to Finish". Running with Genesis Club members, friends and family (Curran, Conor & Ian) makes each stride worthwhile.
